This weekend I had a request for a couple of Disney Princess Cakes for a joined 3rd birthday party. The girls love all of the princesses and couldn't pick a favorite. In order to avoid any disappoints we found a way to incorporate all of the Disney princesses classic and new along with Tinkerbell, as requested by one of the girls, into two very princessy cakes designed as gift box cakes or hat box cakes. This was for my daughter's 5th birthday party. Everything was edible. I poured sugar to make the jewels, but the gold coins out of fondant, pressed them with a stamp to personalize them and sprayed them with airbrush gold.

Oops! I didn't realize that I forgot to blog this super cute cake I did a few weeks ago.

This is a hexagonal shaped buttercream birthday cake for 5 year old Hunter! Each power ranger was hand painted on a fondant plaque, but the Red Samurai Ranger stole the show since he is Hunter's favorite. We also served matching buttercream cupcakes for extra cuteness! Enjoy!!

This weekend I had a unique request for a Dr. Mario themed bridal shower cake. If you are not familiar with Dr. Mario it is a Tetris like game featuring pills and viruses. We do adore original requests at Breezies because it challenges us to think outside of the box to come up with a truly custom cake for your event. This Dr. Mario bridal shower cake is a perfect example of fun meets custom.

Here you see Mrs. Mario (the game's nurse hehe), flashing her new ring, and Dr. Mario in their decked out ride. The viruses have taken the time to shoe polish the windows and tie pills to the back of the happy couple's car.

We also pride ourselves in trying to make every part of our cakes edible and tasty. The viruses are made of flavored tootsie rolls and the pills are Mike and Ikes! Yum! Congrats Loren and Scott!!!!

Ever play Plants Vs. Zombies? I downloaded it to my PS3 as research for this cake and I am addicted now lol! So much fun! This cake features Crazy Dave, the game narrator who sells supplies out of the back of his beat up blue hatch back, sunflowers and peashooters, and of course the zombies... BRAINS!

It turns out zombies are a lot of fun to make... gives me some ideas for Halloween Cakes hehe.

Today is my wonderful Mom's birthday. Last night I had a small dinner party for her at my house. I had an idea for what type of cake I wanted to make for her, and at the last minute decided the frosting needed to be lighter then my normal buttercream. So I made a fluffy white cake filled with milk chocolate ganache and fresh strawberries and frosted with an Italian meringue buttercream that was to die for! If ever Heaven was wrapped up in a cake...this would be the cake. I made a couple of sugar flowers for the top.

These were for a little girl baby shower. The hostess had a variety of napkins she wanted to match. Some were green with black polka dots, dark pink with black polka dots, and then one that was light pink with dark pink, black and green flowers. So I did the best I could to match the napkins and they loved them! In fact I received a comment from the hostess, that has to be my favorite comment about an order, ever!

"They turned out amazing, they were a huge hit! Thanks so much! We all gazed at them for a few hours until someone was brave enough to eat the first one :) haha they tasted even better than they looked. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you I was running all around this morning picking up last minute things. We will do business again and I look forward to meeting you then!"

When I got the order for this birthday cake from the husband of the birthday girl, I was not sure how it was going to turn out. He said he wanted color splotches airbrushed on to the cake. My choice of colors, it just had to include turquoise, and he wanted zebra stripes over the splotches. But after making this cake, I thought it looked really neat! I used deep pink, turquoise, and silver, with black zebra print over the top and the Happy Birthday message in turquoise. Enjoy!

We have had such a busy month at Breezie's, but we still manage to find time to celebrate the things we love. One of our cake designers is a big time True Blood fan, so to celebrate the new season that starts tonight she came up with some special treats to serve at her True Blood party for her guests to sink their teeth into. The cake is our Devil's food cake with "blood" (cherry) filling and cream cheese icing, and the cupcakes stay true to deep south tradition with blood red velvet cake and cream cheese icing. YUM!

This week I got to make cupcakes for a wedding renewal. Not only was the cowboy theme adorable, but I have known the bride since 1st or 2nd grade. I think these cupcakes turned out perfect! I loved the theme, and now I am trying to talk my sister in law into having a Western themed birthday party for my nephew this year. All chocolate cupcakes in brown wrappers, half with ivory frosting half with blue, and all adorned with a cowboy decal. Cowboy boots, horse shoes, and cowboy hats. Mellie thought they turned out great too and I hope everyone at her wedding loved them! Enjoy!

Today we got to help prepare a new mommy at a lovely babyshower, and had the priveledge of creating the cake. Not only did we get to create the baby shower cake, but we also did this couple's wedding cake when they got married. I love being a little part of all the important days! Hehehe.
The hostess wanted a girly winter theme. She had mentioned snowflakes, baby booties, and pink! Fun! The shower was beauitful, Danielle did a great job with all the decorations and gifts. I was really impressed!

New Flavors in the works

Last week we tested a new flavor in our kitchen and Pumpkin cake is offically on our flavor list. It is available with chocolate chips baked in as well. It's delicious with a cream cheese filling or a simple butter glaze. The perfect flavor for the upcoming holidays. Check back soon for our posting on our holiday cakes.

We will be testing two new flavors in our kitchen this week a Vegan Raspberry Mocha Cake and a Vegan Banana cake. Vegans need cake love too and we are working hard to being able to cater to everyone. We will be sure to match these flavors with fillings that are vegan friendly.

So it feels like it's been forever since we got to blog. Sadly October has been a slow month for us. Fortunately, November holds some exciting things. My nephew Bryson will be turning 2 with a great cake coming his way. Kayla's little Bailey will be turning 1 with a totally fabulous cake headed her way! We have a little girl baby shower cake and we've been in touch with one of our regulars about a special birthday cake. So November should be a little more lively.

Anyway! Today we sent out a super special sculpture cake for a little girl, Caroline. Caroline turned 9 today and requested a super special Littlest Pet Shop cake of her favorite figure Calico. Littlest Pet Shop toys have really large heads and eyes and little bodies so internal structure was important. Calico took about 5 days of work to get finished but Caroline appeared to have loved him when we delivered. Happy Birthday Caroline, I hope you LOVED your cake!

We had such a great day today!!! We had such a great response! Our samples were a huge hit and the Ruffle Cake was a huge hit. We had a lot of people enter to win a Groom's cake. We will post the winner to our blog and facebook tomorrow. I couldn't sleep last night because I was nervous about today, and now I won't be able to sleep tonight because I'm so excited about how well everything went. Thanks to everyone that came out and thanks to everyone that plans to order from us! What a great day! I've included some pictures from the show. Enjoy!

The Book Cake

This book cake was created for a special surprise party. People all over town...literally...are going nuts over this cake. It turned out really good and we're very proud of it. I really hope the guest of honor enjoyed this cake as much as everyone else has. Enjoy!

Welcome Baby Carsen!

So we got an order for a babyshower cake for a little man that's on his way, Carsen. They wanted to go with blue and brown for the shower and decided that they wanted zebra print. The flash from my camera made the blue look brighter then it is. I really tried to keep the colors soft since it's for a baby shower and decided to keep the boarder white instead of airbrushing it blue because it made it look more baby shower...to me at least. Anyway it turned out adorable and I think it's even better in person! Enjoy!
